Chan attended the College of the Bahamas. At this time he also pursued a career in banking at BITCO where he was employed for three years. Art remained his first love and so he followed his heart, left the bank and pursued an art career, with much encouragement from well known artist Eddie Minnis. Over the years Chan has become a promenint artist. His unique style of painting, using the sombre pallet knife, brings his paintings to life, giving them a three dimensional effect. It diffuses light over the face of the painting, creating a sculpted, three-dimensional aspect, which enhances the realistic effect so loved by the Bahamian public. This has placed him among the elite in the art community, both here and abroad.Chan’s work adorns the walls of art collectors around the world. He presented a scenic painting of Harbour Island to Prime Minister Hubert A. Ingraham in 1993. He told the Prime Minister the painting represents what the Bahamas is all about. “The blue skies, the bright colours and peaceful atmosphere enjoyed by the lady in the painting, he said, are all characteristic of the islands and their people” Prime Minister Ingraham presented Pratt’s painting to President Bill Clinton in Washington D.C. on the occasion of a luncheon the president gave in honour of several Caribbean Heads of Government | |||||||||
