Bather #1 Bather #1 is the first of a series. It is an attempt to combine contemporary art with world traditions. The subject of bathers has tradition as for back as the Italian Renaissance period. In the early 1900’s a group of Impressionist painters trying to bring art back to the museum quality of the old masters focused on Bathers as subject matter for their paintings. This is what I am attempting to do with this sculpture. I am trying to bring contemporary sculpture away from electronics and video and put it back into the materials used by the old masters.
